Get Your Hike On!

One of my last posts waxed lyrically about the vast beauty and variety of Australia and its various landscapes; it's places like Sealers Cove on the coast of Wilsons Prom that provide the inspiration behind such sentances. A 10km hike (one way) from Mt. Oberon through the Promontory hills through to a secluded part of the Australian coastline, it is one of the best kept secrets of Australia.

The cove itself looks spirited out of a movie set, so serene and picteresque is it. There is something very special about being on one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia almost completely stripped of human interference, only yourself and your mates around to make a noise.

The whole trek recommends allowing 6+ hours to finish but we set a cracking pace and finished in around four hours. I recommend it to anyone considering doing the hike, the entire walk is breathtaking and Sealers Cove is an incredibly rewarding prize. I just can't believe it took me twenty years to discover Wilsons Prom..
