1 Rogye Marshland
Rogye Marshland is situated in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is 3,400 meters to 3,600 meters above sea level, lies what is acclaimed by international wetland protection experts to be ”the world’s largest, most primitive and best preserved wetland on plateau, without any human devastation Rogye”.
2 Bayanbulak Marshland
The Bayanbulak Grassland situated in the Uldus Basin of Tianshan Mountains in the northwest of Hejing County, is the second largest grassland in China. The area is luxuriant with comfortable weather condition and beautiful natural scenery, making it the first natural reserve for swans. Every morning, when the sun rises and people in yurts begin to work, endless flocks of swans fly over the lake and hover above the grassland. In addition, the area also settle many other birds such as mallards, lavrocks, larks, wild gooses.
3 Sanjiang (Three Rivers) Plain
Sanjiang Plain is the lowest plain in eastern Heilongjiang province which embraces most concentrated and widely scattered marshlands in China. This low plain is China’s largest fresh-water marshland, popularly known as the ”Great Northern Wilderness”. Walking through fields or marshes, and seeing oriental white storks, red-crowned cranes and other rare birds strutting at ease or flying freely between the green land and blue sky, you can moved by the perfect harmony of life and nature.
4 Yellow River Delta Marshland
Situated in Dongying City of Shandong Province, Yellow River Delta Marshland is the world’s youngest wetland ecosystem. Almost 300 kinds of birds make their homes here; a place called by officials of Wetlands International the ”international airport for birds”.It has been an important place for migratory birds from the inland of East Asia and the West Pacific Rim to stop overland propagate.
5 Zhalong Marshland
Zhalong Natural Reserve is located at the lower reaches of Wuyu’er River of Songnen Plain, with the total area of 210,000 hectares. Zhalong Marshland is a paradise of birds and a heaven of cranes. There are more than 260 species of birds in Zhalong Natural Reserve, including 35 species of national protection birds. The Reserve is particularly renowned in the world for its large amount diversified species of cranes.
6 Liaohe River Delta Marshland
Covering an area of nearly 600,000 hectares, the Liaohe River Delta Marshland includes Panjin and Yingkou Cities in Liaoning Province, where the Shuangtai Hekou Nature Reserve has been set up. For migratory birds this is a key habitat and a way station on their East Asia-Australia route. The Reserve is the main breeding site for the Oriental stork, as well as for black stork, red-crowned and white-napped cranes, whooper swan, and mandarin duck.
